Rodziah visits landslide victims in Ampang, pauses campaign programme

AMPANG JAYA, Nov 16 — Pakatan Harapan’s (Harapan) candidate for Ampang parliamentary seat Rodziah Ismail has put her campaign trail on hold for a while to visit the family who was affected by a landslide in Taman Halaman, here yesterday

She said that the authorities had immediately evacuated the victims and that further action would be taken once the report on the incident is complete.

“The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), the Hulu Langat District and Land Office and the disaster unit have also surveyed the landslide location. The relevant agencies will be presenting a special report on resolving the issue (landslide). What is more important is to evacuate the victims first.

“Even though the incident had affected only one house, we would still monitor the slope’s strength. We have to ensure other residents are safe. The report will be sent to the state executive council tomorrow (today) and we shall wait for further action,” she said, adding that MPAJ had also identified the high-risk slopes.

She said the local council had also received the allocation for the slope’s restoration works last month.

“Before this, I (in the capacity of Ampang parliamentary coordinator) have asked MPAJ to identify the existing slopes area and identify its position and status.

“Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah), RM17.5 million has been approved by the Selangor State Executive Council for the slope restoration works,” she added.
