Air Selangor detects odour pollution, actively curbing water cuts to 472 locations

SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — An unscheduled water disruption will affect 472 areas across the Klang Valley beginning 7am today, says Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).

In a statement today, Air Selangor said the Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) were temporarily suspended due to odour pollution detected in the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station.

The forced closure of the WTPs caused water cuts in five regions in Selangor, namely Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54), Kuala Langat (27), Sepang (196) and Putrajaya (23).

“We are providing alternative assistance through water tankers that have been mobilised to the affected areas, with priorities given to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funerals during the water cut period.

“Air Selangor will inform the development of this incident from time to time through all mediums, especially the mass media,” the statement read.

The agency also advised the consumers to refer to its official communication channels, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, or contact its hotline at 15300.

Any enquiries or complaints can be done via its website at www.airselangor.com or the Air Selangor mobile app.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Air Selangor said that as of 6am this morning, the water supply restoration to the areas affected by a water cut following the repair works due to a pipe burst at Jalan Bukit Beruntung, Hulu Selangor, has reached 80 per cent.

“The duration of the water supply recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the distance and location of the consumers’ premises.

“The water supply is expected to be fully restored by 8:00pm,” it added.

Air Selangor also advised consumers who have and will receive their water supply to let the tap run until the water is clear before using it for daily consumption.

“Air Selangor hopes that consumers who have received water supply will use their water prudently to ensure that the recovery process in the other affected areas runs smoothly as scheduled,” it said.
