AnIS expands suitable, effective services for disabled persons

SHAH ALAM, Dec 15 — The Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS) department is always prepared to empower disabled persons by expanding its services more effectively, in accordance with the people’s wishes.

State executive councillor for women and family development Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said this is particularly meant for the underprivileged in Selangor.

“The AnIS Special Assistance Programme is one of the department’s programmes’ earliest initiatives, which has been well-received with many in Selangor looking forward to it every year.

“Under the 2023 Selangor Budget, AnIS received a RM4 million allocation, with the Special Assistance Programme receiving a special allocation of RM1 million to empower special-needs children in the state,” she said.

Dr Siti Mariah was speaking at the AnIS handover ceremony at the State Secretariat Building yesterday, where 41 recipients were presented with special aid.

She added that as proof of the state government’s firm commitment to ensuring the continuity of AnIS’ programmes and initiatives, it will also establish Yayasan Insan Istimewa Selangor, a special subsidiary under Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated).

“We hope in the future, this AnIS initiative will be able to provide continuous benefits to the disabled in need, especially for the underprivileged,” Dr Siti Mariah said.
