SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 — Infrasel Sdn Bhd (Infrasel) has installed canvases on the slopes of Section 13,200 near the location of the landslide tragedy at Jalan Genting in Batang Kali, Hulu Selangor last night.
The state road maintenance company said the installation is aimed at reducing the risk of landslides, and was carried out by 12 staff from 10am to 12.40pm.
“The members involved continued the work of spreading crusher run (rough stones) on road shoulders at the rubble site, at 10am today,” it said when contacted.
Infrasel added the Batang Kali – Genting route is still closed to the public, on the orders of the Hulu Selangor District Police.
“The work of rescuing the landslide victims is still being carried out by Fire and Rescue personnel, the Malaysian Civil Defence Department, and the Malaysian Special Search and Rescue Team (Smart),” it said.
Last Friday (December 16), the Selangor Public Works Department announced the closure of the B66 Batang Kali – Genting road, following a landslide at the Section 14, Road B66 roadside that was dangerous to users.
Members of the public intending to go to Genting Highlands are advised to use alternative routes of B113 (Jalan Batang Kali – Ulu Yam) to B23 (Jalan Ulu Yam – Batu Caves) or the main route FT001 (Jalan Kuala Lumpur – Ipoh).
