Kusel facilitates application process for utility development permits

SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — Selangor Utility Corridor (Kusel) has assisted with the processing of about 1,000 development permit applications for utility provider companies since beginning operations in April.

Its managing director Khairul Azmi Misran said the agency’s function is to serve as a facilitator or one-stop centre for the parties concerned in order to expedite applications from local authorities.

He said that the agency has also improved the service by introducing online applications that would save time for developers.

“We get to expedite the application process and site visit procedures, and then we would move on to the next step. Kusel serves as a facilitator and one-stop centre for the evaluation process.

“The local authorities and the Public Works Department (JKR) are still in charge of (any) approvals,” he said in an interview with SelangorKini on December 20.

Developers in the fields of telecommunications, water, energy, sewerage, gas, and real estate can submit their applications online via www.kusel.my.

The parties involved may also take note of the guidelines for facility routes and road excavation prepared by Kusel and authorised by the Selangor State Executive Council in August.

Kusel is a subsidiary of the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, and is in charge of coordinating and managing utility-related matters for the state.
