SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — Over 400,000 user accounts are being targeted to receive 20 cubic metres of free water monthly by the end of this year, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the number of Skim Air Darul Ehsan recipients increased after the household income threshold to qualify for the scheme was raised to RM5,000 and below from RM4,000 previously.

“We are aiming for 600,000 accounts, with over 300,000 having registered. This indicates a reasonable increase and we aim to reach over 400,000 by the end of 2022,” he said during the wind-up of the 2023 Selangor Budget, at the State Legislative Assembly sitting yesterday.

On Friday (November 25), Amirudin announced the free water scheme will be continue with a RM40 million allocation.

To qualify, applicants must be Malaysian citizens and reside in Selangor in individual meter premises, with each application only for one account or premises.
