PKNS hands over RM2 mln in business zakat, distributes RM350,000 to repair asnaf homes

SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has paid RM2 million in business zakat to the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) for this year.

It said the payment was handed over by PKNS Chief Strategic Officer Idris Ishak to LZS Chief Executive Officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, at the Zakat On Street programme on Saturday (December 24).

“PKNS also received RM787,500 in wakala distribution payments on the same day,” it said in a Facebook post.

When contacted, Mohd Sabirin said six asnaf (Islamic tithe recipients) from the Petaling district received approximately RM39,680 in LZS assistance during the programme.

“Of the RM787,500 PKNS distribution, RM350,000 was used to repair the homes of 10 impoverished asnaf and to help the asnaf gharimin (asnaf in debt),” he said.
