PM directs rescue missions of landslide victims in neat, systematic manner

SHAH ALAM, Dec 16 — The Prime Minister orders all government departments to carry out search-and-rescue (SAR) missions for landslide victims at Jalan Genting-Batang Kali in a neat and systematic manner.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim informed that he had received information from the Local Government Development Minister, the Environment Minister, and Menteri Besar of Selangor regarding the mission.

“I was also informed that the minister involved will be at the location this morning. However, I advised them not to interfere with SAR works.

“Malaysians, please pray for this mission to be made easier and I will be at the location tonight,” he said in a statement this morning.

Earlier, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari mobilised members and assets of the fire brigade, local authorities and related agencies to the location of the landslide involved to assist in the rescue mission.

So far, two victims have been reported dead involving a woman and a child in an incident at a campsite near the Father’s Organic Farm at Gohtong Jaya, early this morning.

The Selangor Fire Department in a statement on Facebook estimated the rubble to be 30 metres high with an area of three acres.
