SHAH ALAM, Dec 11 — The 2022 Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF 2022), which concluded today, drew over 200,000 visitors throughout the 11-day period.

Selangor Public Library Corporation director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said since it was launched on December 1, the book fair has recorded a total sales value of over RM5 million.

She said the state government has also agreed to organise the inaugural book fair as its annual event.

“We will be organising the event on the same date and at the same venue next year. After this, we will conduct a post-mortem to see what sorts of improvements could be done towards the programme in the future,” she told SelangorKini here today.

Mastura said the SIBF 2022 was a continuation from the previous Selangor Book Fair, which had been organised for 16 years.

She added that Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had suggested the book fair be upgraded to the international level.

“So far, we have received good feedback from international exhibitors from eight countries participating in the SIBF 2022.

“Hopefully there will be more international exhibitors next year,” she said.

SIBF 2022 was held at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre, involving 225 local and international exhibitors.

Among the foreign countries involved in the event include the United Kingdom, Turkey, North Macedonia, South Korea, Egypt, Indonesia, China and Singapore.
