Selangor Sultan expresses appreciation for Fire Dept role in Batang Kali landslide tragedy

SHAH ALAM, Dec 30 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has expressed his appreciation to the state Fire and Rescue Department for its effort during the search-and-rescue (SAR) operations for of victims of the Batang Kali landslide tragedy.

His Royal Highness also expressed pride in the determination of its personnel throughout the duration of the SAR operations and decreed they should remain committed and dedicated to shouldering their responsibilities.

“His Royal Highness has kept constant track of the daily report of rescue operations and is amazed by the seriousness and enthusiasm of every rescuer when carrying out the SAR operations for buried victims, in spite of the many challenges and difficulties they face.

“Sultan Sharafuddin was also able to witness the good coordination between the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department with other agencies,” wrote the Selangor Royal Office in a Facebook post.

Earlier today, the Ruler received the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department Director-General Datuk Seri Mohammad Hamdan Wahid, as well as the state department’s director Datuk Norazam Khamis for a royal audience at Istana Bukit Kayangan in Shah Alam.
