SHAH ALAM, Dec 18 — Some 5,000 city residents took part in the Shah Alam Car-Free Day @ Elmina Central Park programme, organised by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) in Section U16 earlier today.
The programme was attended by Shah Alam Mayor Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid, his deputies, city councillors, and MBSA’s top management.
In his speech, he expressed his gratitude for the reception of Shah Alam’s citizens over today’s programme.
“I plan to organize a similar programme outside the city centre after this,” Nor Fuad said. The mayor also participated in the Fun Walk event by walking five kilometres.
In a statement, MBSA’s corporate and public relations department said a variety of interesting activities are available, including leisurely cycling, cultural performances and MBSA combos, fashion shows and the presentation of Keluarga Ceria gifts.
Other activities include those in the children’s corner like wayang pacak, Perpustakaan Anggerik Vanilla craft activities, colouring activities and family picnics.
“MBSA also provided services like the Shah Alam On Wheels mobile office, a mobile library, and the SEDA-10 exhibition (search and destroy Aedes 10 Minutes).
“Several exhibitions and sales were also held, including from Sime Darby, Klinik Siti, Universiti Teknologi Mara, arts and craft activities, the Bicycle Club and Farm Fresh milk sales were made available to visitors,” it said.
