SHAH ALAM, Dec 7 — A total of 160,000 visitors attended the 2022 Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre, here, since its opening on December 1 until yesterday.

The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said the event, which will end on December 11, received a satisfactory turnout even on a weekday.

She said she is confident that the target of 300,000 visitors to SIBF is achievable as there are five more days to the event.

“Even on working days, the attendance is still satisfactory. Today alone, 24 buses carrying students arrived since morning,” she said yesterday.

Mastura added that there are a variety of interesting events prepared for visitors of all ages.

“We have lucky draws, librarian seminars, and book review sessions happening at the participating exhibition booths. In addition, Ikim radio is also broadcasting live at the MBSA Convention Centre.

“In the meantime, I hope that all 56 members of the state assemblymen would be able to give support and to attend SIBF, as well as to invite the community to come join the fun,” she said.

The inaugural SIBF is organised by the state government together with PPAS as a continuation of the Selangor Book Fair held since 2006.

In addition to exhibitions and book sales, various interesting activities involving students and children were also held together with sales of a variety of food and goods.
