State to seize illegal landfill if owner refuses to cooperate — MB

By Zareef Muzammil

SERI KEMBANGAN, Dec 6 — The Selangor government will seize 15 lots, or over nine hectares of land, in Taman Puncak Jalil that was used as an illegal landfill, if the owner refuses to cooperate.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the owner will be imposed with Notice 8A, Section 130 of the National Land Code 1965 if they prevent the land restoration process from being carried out.

“The main issue is that the land does not belong to us and is owned by someone else. Therefore, to seize the land, we have to hand over the 7A form which has been issued to the owner.

“Meanwhile, the 7B Notice will be issued to allow inspections to be carried out and to get the verification towards the restoration that has been done. After that, we need at least two to three months to initiate the confiscation process,” he said after visiting the land here, yesterday.

Amirudin said that even though the illegal landfill operation was stopped over a year ago, the remaining waste continues to cause air pollution and a foul smell around the area.

“Most of the waste dumped here was from six to seven years back and the illegal landfill was no longer operating over a year ago. The Subang Jaya City Council had issued summons of RM25,000 several times which was paid by the owner.

“We have installed the concrete barrier but that was also broken,” he added.
