SHAH ALAM, Dec 10 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will build two pump houses in addition to infrastructural works at Taman Sri Muda under its Shah Alam Flood Action Plan (Sasud).
State executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim said the project under the category of urgent needs was an initiative by the city council to avoid recurring floods.
“Today (yesterday), we broke ground to allow the project to begin without delay. We expect it to be ready within six months to a year.
“We try as best as we can, but we cannot guarantee that floods will not happen again. We will try to reduce the risk,” he said during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Sasud project at Taman Sri Muda, here yesterday.
Also present were Klang MP V Ganabatirau, Shah Alam MP Azli Yusof and Shah Alam mayor Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid.
In November last year, Taman Sri Muda in Section 25, Shah Alam was one of the most affected areas after several areas in Shah Alam and Klang were hit by floods due to several days of heavy rain.
