SUBANG JAYA, Jan 31 — Starting tomorrow, all campsite operators in Selangor will need to be registered with respective local authorities to ensure the safety of visitors.

State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said the decision was reached through a camping site whitening guidelines preparation workshop with various agencies recently.

He explained the general conditions for approval are given according to the suitability of the campsite and the licensing conditions which are mandatory for operators on private land.

“Currently, we have not set a final date for registration, it may be announced from time to time,” he said in a press conference, here today.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the guidelines regarding the stipulations and rules of camping activities would be enforced to ensure the safety of life.

This follows the landslide tragedy at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite, Gohtong Jaya, Batang Kali last December which claimed 31 lives.
