Muhammad Azmi appointed as MCMC interim chairman

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced the appointment of Datuk Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain as Interim Chairman of MCMC effective January 5.

MCMC in a statement yesterday said Muhammad Azmi took over the leadership from Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din who held the position since June 10, 2022, and had resigned on December 20.

Muhammad Azmi is an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer who has extensive experience in the public sector for 26 years in various ministries and government departments.

He is currently the Director-General of the Department of the Director General of Federal Lands and Mines, Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC).

“MCMC is confident that Muhammad Azmi’s extensive experience in public service will help MCMC’s efforts to boost the development of the telecommunications and multimedia sector,” according to the statement.

MCMC also expressed appreciation and thanks to Mohamad Salim for his contributions and service throughout his tenure with the commission as well as for ensuring the industry remained relevant and competitive.
