PETALING JAYA, Jan 6 —The redevelopment of the Shah Alam Sports Complex is expected to start in the first quarter of this year.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government is currently waiting for the Planning Approval (KM) before the construction could take place.
“We have held several meetings and everything is almost complete, pending KM and we then will finalise the actual cost,” he told a press conference after officiating the 2023 Selangor International Junior Golf Championship, here yesterday.
Amirudin also said that the state administration would not pursue land-swapping deals at the stadium area.
“We would not conduct land swapping at the stadium and the area will remain as a dedicated space for the stadium, public facilities and sports activities.
“The land swapping deal will involve other lands, which we are currently in talks with the developer,” he said.
On July 15 of last year, Amirudin said the private-public partnership project in collaboration with the Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad would not involve any state government funds.
He said the task of raising the stadium platform by 1.5 metres to stop recurrent flooding, the replacement of the electrical wiring system and the old roof structure as well as fixing the football field and piping system have been included in the total cost.
