Wedding plans can wait until after Paris Olympics — Shevon

NEW DELHI, Jan 19 — Malaysian mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie will only plan their wedding after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Soon Huat, 32, proposed to Shevon, 29, in the Maldives recently.

Asked about their wedding plans on the sidelines of the India Open badminton championships here today, Shevon said that, for now, they are just focused on collecting more points to qualify for the Paris Olympics.

“We want to qualify for the Olympics first. We will plan (our marriage) after that,” she told Bernama.

World number seven Soon Huat – Shevon, however, failed to collect any points here after being shown a first-round exit when they lost 11 – 21, 7 – 21 to China’s world number one pair of Zheng Si Wei – Huang Ya Qiong yesterday.

The couple, who have been paired up since 2016, announced their off-court relationship in 2021.
