KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 — Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin Hamidin has reminded the national Under-20 (U-20) women’s football squad who will shoulder Malaysia’s challenge in the 2024 U-20 Asian Cup Qualifying round in Cambodia this March to do their best.
He said the commitment and seriousness of each player during training and matches is the key to their success in the qualifying round of the tournament that will take place in Phnom Penh from March 8 to March 12.
“Nothing is impossible, so give your best in Phnom Penh and I wish the U-20 Malaysian Tigress success,” Hamidin said in a FAM Facebook post.
The president had taken time to meet the 25 players of the squad coached by Cameron Ng after their closed friendly match against SSS Leopards at Padang Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya, yesterday afternoon.
Among those present to witness the match FAM were FAM Executive Committee member cum FAM Women’s Football chairman Datuk Suraya Yaacob, FAM Technical Director Scott O’Donell, Harimau Malaya Head Coach Kim Pan Gon and Malayan Tigress Head Coach Soleen Al-Zoubi.
In the qualifying round in Phnom Penh, Malaysia is drawn in Group G with the hosts and Myanmar with only the winner qualifying for the second round.
