SUBANG JAYA, Feb 5 — Participants of the Gadis Inspirasi Negeri Selangor (Gadis) programme, especially its winners, are expected to spread the state government-organised women’s programme on a wider basis.

State executive councillor of women and family development Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the state government has provided a variety of initiatives to all groups, yet only a few know of them and benefit as a result.

“There have been many forms of assistance for the B40 group, but we have also carried out initiatives for the M40 and T20 groups. Yet not everybody sees this. So we hope Gadis’ participants will speak up about the programmes related to women.

“At times the information does not reach the intended audience, especially if the reader has no patience to do so. Thus, Gadis’ participants can do their part in attracting societal interest via their deliveries on social media like TikTok,” she said.

Dr Siti Mariah was speaking at the prize presentation ceremony for the competition, at the Grand Dorsett Subang Hotel yesterday.

Organised by Wanita Berdaya Selangor, Gadis saw part-time model Norzawani Zakiah Khairul Zaki crowned the champion.

She brings home RM5,000 in cash, a certificate, and a trophy The second place was won by entertainment host Nur Idayu Azizi Aziz who received RM3,000, while University of London law student Stella Leong Sin Yin obtained third place with RM1,000.

Running from January 27 to January 29, the programme aims to unearth the talent and potential among young women by providing a channel to highlight themselves to the general public, increase their self-development and sustainability, as well as their competitiveness

To qualify for Gadis, potential participants must be aged 18 to 35, were born and are residing in Selangor, and with followers on various social media platforms at a minimum of 5,000 followers.
