SHAH ALAM, Feb 17 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) and KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) have conducted a cleaning operation to resolve the issue of illegal waste dumping along Jalan Kampung Tengah in Gombak.
The Gombak Setia state constituency’s coordinating officer Din Yahaya said the joint operation has managed to alleviate the discomfort of local residents, particularly those who frequently use the road.
“We thank the authorities for their quick action. However, residents also hope they can carry out continuous monitoring, so as to ensure the issue of illegal dumping can be done away with once and for all.
“It was revealed the problem stemmed from several foreign traders, who casually dispose of domestic waste, including fruits and construction waste like motorcycle frames.
The matter is serious because asides from pollution, garbage overflows into the road,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.
During the operation, MPS’ Solid Waste and Health Management Department and KDEBWM’s Gombak Division used three Roll-On-Roll-Off (RORO) bins to clear the garbage pile.
Subsequently, barrier ropes and banners prohibiting littering were installed to prevent irresponsible parties from repeating their actions.
