GOMBAK, Feb 23 — The Kuang state constituency aims to distribute 5,000 reusable bags to visitors at affordable basic necessities sales in its area from March onwards.

Its coordinator Salasiah Disa said this would educate the populace, as well as to ensure the plastic-free campaign is a success.

“We are planning to provide A3-sized bags to visitors, the design has already been set but we are still waiting for the allocation before ordering them.

“We are confident at being able to distribute the bags to residents in early March, so they can bring their own bags whenever they come for the affordable sales organised in the area,” she said.

Speaking to SelangorKini during the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat roadshow at Azalea Court Tasik Puteri yesterday, Salasiah added the state constituency has previously distributed reusable bags to visitors several times at several other programmes organised here.

On February 7, the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) recommended that visitors bring their own for purchased items, in support of the plastic-free campaign implemented by the state government.

Selangor first began the campaign by banning the use of plastic bags on every Saturday in 2009, before expanding it to seven days a week from 2017 onwards.
