SHAH ALAM, Feb 5 — The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) is inviting the public to participate in a webinar on the thoughts of the late National Laureate Datuk Arena Wati, which will take place on February 22.
It said informed the online seminar will be held on Zoom, as well as on the Facebook pages of Pustaka Raja Tun Uda, and Selangor Library.
Running from 9am to 4.30pm, it will feature panellists including National Laureate Datuk Mohd Anuar Rethwan, and Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Modern Language and Communication Faculty lecturer Prof Madya Kamariah Kamarudin.
The other panellists include Coalition of National Writers Association Malaysia (Gapena) deputy president Mohamad Saleeh Rahamad, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Social Science and Humanities Faculty senior lecturer Che Abdullah Che Ya, and Indonesian author Kirana Kejora.
Those interested in participating must register at https://bit.ly/WP-AW-2023, so the webinar’s secretariat can send them the presentation materials and participation certificate within seven days after the presentation date.
Arena Wati, the pen name of Muhammad Dahlan Abdul Biang, was awarded National Laureate status in 1988 based on his works concerning the problems of subordinate groups and the plight of the oppressed.
Starting his career as a journalist in 1954, Arena Wati passed away in Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia aged 84 on January 25, 2009, due to lung cancer.
