Selangor volunteers clear 765 tonnes of bulk waste in Labis

LABIS, March 10 — The Bantuan Kita Selangor Penyayang team of volunteers has collected some 765 tonnes of bulk waste from nine flood-affected locations in Pekan Chaah, here yesterday.

State Disaster Management Unit (Management Services) divisional secretary Muhammad Hanafi Ahmad said that 311 people from the local authorities, Selangor Volunteers (Serve), KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM), and Team Selangor contributed to the cleanup efforts.

“The operations, led by state executive councillor for human capital development Mohd Khairuddin Othman, begins from 9am to 6pm in the localities determined by the Labis District Council (MLD).

“A total of 218 rounds were made from the affected areas to the temporary waste collection centre in Pekan Chaah,” he told Selangorkini.

The cleanup operations of bulk waste began on Wednesday and continue today in the same locations.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amuridin Shari in a Facebook post yesterday expressed his appreciation to the team volunteers who are working hard in the post-flood and waste disposal process in Labis, Johor.

The operations carries out by the local authorities and state agencies in the allocated areas are as follows:

1. Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj)
– Taman Sri Chaah and Taman Damai Jaya 2 (155 tonnes and 31 rounds)

2. Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ)
– Kampung Kangkar 1 and 2 (148 tonnes and 37 rounds)

3. Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB) and Team Selangor
– Kampung Jawa and Taman Orked (120 tonnes and 24 rounds)

4. Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) and Klang Municipal Council (MPK)
– Taman Chaah Baru 1 and 2 (80 tonnes and 40 rounds)

5. Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ)
– Taman Damai Jaya 1 and Taman Sentosa (75 tonnes and 15 rounds)

6. KDEBWM
– Taman Jaya 2, Taman Nesa, Taman Muhibah and Taman Chaah (70 tonnes and 35 rounds)

7. Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and Serve
– Kampung Jawa Baru (57 tonnes and 18 rounds)

8. Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) and Selayang Municipal Council (MPS)
– Taman Perwira, Taman Permata, Taman Muhibah and Taman Nesa (36 tonnes and 12 rounds)

9. Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) and Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS)
– Taman Seri Setia, Taman Mesra and Taman Chaah Baru Phase 2 (24 tonnes and six rounds)
