Avoid overloading sockets — Energy Commission

PUTRAJAYA, April 19 — The Energy Commission (ST) advises the public not to overload sockets by using multiple appliances at the same time or appliances that draw a heavy load of electricity.

In a holiday season safety advisory issued today, the commission also advised people not to leave cooking unattended.

ST also asked the public not to use their mobile phone while it is charging.

“Make sure all electrical switches and appliances that are not used at home are turned off if you return to your hometown or go on vacation,” it said.

ST said the public should also use cooking appliances that have the ST-SIRIM safety label.

“Do not bring equipment or devices that can cause sparks near the cooking area,” it added.
