Check travel restriction status before planning overseas trip — IRB

KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has called on all taxpayers to check their tax arrears and travel restriction status before planning to go abroad.

It said in a statement today that travel restrictions are a last resort taken if a taxpayer fails to pay the outstanding taxes (individuals and companies) after various reminders and notices have been sent.

Taxpayers can check their status at the MyTax portal at https://mytax.hasil.gov.my/ and for travel restrictions at the Immigration Department website at https://sspi.imi.gov.my/sspi/.

Taxpayers are requested to make payments or contact the IRB offices that handle tax files to negotiate for instalment payments to enable them to continue with their overseas travels.

Inquiries can be made via the HASiL Care Line at 03-8911 1000/603-8911 1100 (overseas); HASiL Live Chat; as well as by filling up the feedback form available on the official website at https://maklumbalaspelanggan.hasil.gov.my/MaklumBalas/ms-my/public.
