Over 3,000 mosque personnel receive Aidilfitri aid from state govt

SHAH ALAM, April 13 — Approximately 3,024 mosque personnel in 432 houses of worship throughout Selangor have been given RM2.3 million in special Hari Raya Aidilfitri incentives by the state government today.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said these included nazirs, imams, siaks, and bilals, who each received RM500 via Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI.

The same amount was also given to 1,687 public teachers in religious primary schools and Al-Quran and Fardhu Ain (Kafa) classes.

“These incentives are a gesture of the state government’s appreciation for the contributions and tasks undertaken by mosque administrators and teachers of the people.

“They have always played a role in upholding the mosque (as an institution) particularly during Ramadan, as well as before and after the sacred month,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking during the presentation of the special incentives at the banquet hall of Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz, earlier today.

On March 31, the Menteri Besar announced the Kita Selangor Special Aidilfitri Incentives of one month’s salary or a minimum of RM1,000 to all state civil servants.

A month’s allowance of special financial assistance will also be given to community leaders appointed by the state government.
