SHAH ALAM, April 20 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to the Kompleks PKNS Ramadan Bazaar in Section 14 yesterday proved to be thrilling for its traders and visitors.
Dressed in a subtle purple Baju Melayu with crimson and gold samping, his arrival at 5.40pm was greeted by many, including the state government’s administration and the management of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) atau MBI.
As part of the Santunan Ramadan Malaysia Madani programme in Selangor, the Tambun MP spent some 20 minutes interacting with traders and customers, as well as consenting to requests from members of the public who wanted to take selfies with him.
At several of the stalls Anwar stopped by, its traders attempted to provide him with their products for free like pulut mangga, bubur, and kuih tepung pelita, among others.
However, the Prime Minister was insistent on paying for whatever he was given, rather than taking it for free.
During the walkabout, he also distributed Rahmah Platform Selangor vouchers worth RM5 each, as well as donating MBI Raya cakes to visitors.
In the period since ascending to the premiership, Anwar has attended programmes and met Selangor’s residents several times, like completing the Kita-Untuk-Kita (K2K) programme at PPR Kampung Baru Hicom in Shah Alam on April 8.
During that programme, he announced that an additional RM35 million will be allocated to empower the residents in public housing projects in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
Prior to that on February 9, Anwar visited Universiti Selangor (Unisel) in conjunction with the Syarahan Ulung Kursi Siddiq Fadzil programme, where he was greeted by over 4,000 attendees including students.
