Selangor to give RM20,000 incentive to state atheletes for 2023 Asean Para Games

SHAH ALAM, April 17 — The state government will provide a RM20,000 incentive to Selangor’s para-athletes competing in the 2023 Asean Para Games, which takes place in Cambodia in June.

State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the aid will be channelled to the athletes before they depart for Cambodia.

InsyaAllah, we will review the incentives, because in terms of the sports structure they fall under the Youth and Sports Ministry, rather than the state government.

“But the Selangor Sports Council (MSN) is concerned about the athletes, so long as they are Selangor residents playing on the national level. Should I be informed of Selangor residents participating in the Para Asian Games, then incentives will be provided,” he said when contacted today.

The 2023 Asean Para Games in Cambodia will take place from June 3 to June 12.

During the 2018 Asean Para Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, the national contingent succeeded in garnering 17 gold, 26 silver, and 25 bronze medals
