SHAH ALAM, April 22 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graciously performed Hari Raya Aidilfitri prayers at Masjid Tengku Ampuan Jemaah in Bukit Jelutong, earlier today.
His Royal Highness, garbed in a purple Baju Melayu, arrived at 8am to join some 5,000 congregants for the Syawal 1 prayers.
Also in attendance were the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
Accompanying the royal family were state government dignitaries, including Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor State Government Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim, alongside administrative and public officials.
His Royal Highness and the congregation called out the takbir raya and performed their prayers, led by the mosques manager and first imam Abas Mohamad Yusof, with Selangor Mufti Datuk Anhar Opir acting as the khatib.
Following the conclusion of the prayers, Sultan Sharafuddin spent time interacting with the congregants, many of whom took the opportunity to kiss hands.
His Royal Highness also ate a meal with the congregants at the mosque’s banquet hall, before departing at 10am.
