SHAH ALAM, April 6 — Some 100 residents from lower-income backgrounds in several state constituencies were provided with basic food donations yesterday, in conjunction with the ongoing Ramadan fasting month.

State executive councillor for social welfare V Ganabatirau said the programme, held since 2017, encompasses the provision of rice, flour, sugar, biscuits, canned food, and milk.

The recipients hail from the constituencies of Kota Kemuning, Batu Tiga, Sungai Kandis, Kota Anggerik, as well as from a list by the State Secretariat’s Welfare Club.

“We feted them with a fast-breaking meal, and handed over a small donation of basic food, for them to use during the fasting month and to help alleviate their burdens,” he said.

Ganabatirau added he hopes the programme will also foster positive values among the public in continuing to help the underprivileged, regardless of race and time.
