SHAH ALAM, May 30 — Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir has launched the opening of the Petaling Jaya Community Library in Bandar Utama, on May 27.
Located at Dewan Serbaguna Bandar Utama 3 in Jalan BU 6/2, the MBPJ corporate communication unit’s media secretariat stated in a statement that the library houses over 9,000 books.
The local council stated that the third community library under its purview covers an area of 2,200 square feet and provides e-book services.
“The establishment of this library aims to provide convenience to residents, especially students and children while promoting a reading culture.
“The library is also equipped with book lending services, internet and WiFi access, a cosy reading area, computer facilities and board game rentals,” the statement read.
Since the community library was introduced in August 2019, a total of 14,757 visitors were recorded and 13,177 books borrowed.
