Selangor to present action plan to strengthen small traders, hawkers — Exco

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, May 1 — The state government is set to present submit a five-year action plan for the development of Selangor’s entrepreneurs, in the near future, said state executive councillor for entrepreneurial development Rodziah Ismail.

She said the plan, aimed at empowering small traders and hawkers, can be utilised as a reference for whoever is to take over the portfolio once her current term ends.

“InsyaAllah, the plan will be submitted to the state government in the coming future. Should this be my last term as state executive councillor for entrepreneurial development, then my successor can use the plan as a blueprint.

“If I am to retain the post, then it will certainly make my work to develop the state’s entrepreneurs easier,” Rodziah said.

Commenting further, she said one of her successes as a councillor was the establishment of a special committee for the development of entrepreneurs on the local authority level.

“With this committee, we have synergy with the local authorities, particularly those managing many small entrepreneurs and hawkers. We did so in the hope the traders will fare well.

“Simultaneously, we are proud of the fact that Selangor features close to 300 premier products, some of which are even highlighted abroad. It is not limited to food and beverage products, but also includes health care, babies, among others,” Rodziah said.
