SHAH ALAM, June 11 — A total of 3,000 p-hailing workers in Selangor have received up to RM2 million in assistance under Inisiatif Roda Darul Ehsan (RiDE).

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the allocation includes a cash amount of RM500 and an Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contribution worth RM50 for each p-hailing worker.

“This initiative is a state government aid which was introduced as part of Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat (IPR) in 2020.

“The state government has allocated RM2 million for this year, with over 3,000 applications approved, involving workers from various outsourcing companies,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the RiDE presentation ceremony in conjunction with Festival Belia Selangor, at Dataran Karnival Stadium Shah Alam yesterday.

Also in attendance were the state executive councillor for Youth Development Mohd Khairuddin Othman, and the Selangor Sports Council’s executive director Mohamad Nizam Marjugi.

The Menteri Besar added that a total of 5,358 applications were received this year, of which only 3,000 p-hailing workers were selected for the initiative.

However, the state government has also decided to allocate an additional RM1 million to assist approximately 2,000 additional p-hailing workers.

“We want everyone to benefit so that we can truly call one another blood brothers. InsyaAllah, those who did not receive the assistance today will receive it before September next year,” he said.

On December 24 last year, Amirudin announced that 3,000 p-hailing workers under RiDE received cash assistance and EPF contributions worth RM50.

He said the programme, first implemented in 2020, provides various other benefits including contributions to the Social Security Organisation (Socso) and Skim Insurans Am Selangor (Insan).
