MB: Development plan in Sabak Bernam to woo RM1.9 bln investments, create 3,600 jobs

SABAK BERNAM, June 9 — Six projects under the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) are set to attract investments of up to RM1.9 billion while creating 3,600 high-paying job opportunities.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the projects, which are expected to begin operations in 2025, include the Smart Selangor Agro Park (SSAP) in Changkat Menteri, high-tech Fisheries Centre in Sekinchan, and Air Manis Business Centre.

He said the remaining three projects include the Sabak Bernam Rest and Relax (R&R) Centre, agrotourism in Sekinchan, and the local construction and maintenance centre for boats or fishing vessels in Sungai Lang.

“With these efforts, the state government is confident that Sabda will attract investments of RM1.9 billion, or approximately RM248 million annually, and create 3,600 high-paying job opportunities,” he stated.

One of the 20 game changers outlined in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), Sabda involves the development of high-value crops using technology across an area of 1,317 hectares.

“About two months ago, the Selangor State Executive Council approved the projects, such as in Sekinchan, and land matters were handed over to the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, which will identify partners at the location.

“We hope that these six projects would contribute to the economy and Sabda would become a ‘magnet’ in attracting investors,” he said at a press conference following the Sabda Introduction Ceremony at Nazbell Cottage & Garden in Kampung Parit Sepuloh here today.

At the same time, Amirudin invited the private sector in digital technology and communication industries to participate in developing the digitalisation of smart agriculture.

“This is a golden opportunity for research institutions to collaborate with technology industries to enhance innovation and create high-paying job opportunities for the people of Selangor.

“Sabda could become a research and development (R&D) hub for sustainable food industries that could be showcased to the Southeast Asian region.

“If this is achievable, we will have the opportunity to establish networks with international companies in the food industry, including food processing and logistics.

“[Hence,] I dare say that ‘Selangor is ready for business’,” he declared.
