PKR Youth Chief chides Kedah MB for ‘insult’ to Selangor voters

TANJUNG KARANG, June 9 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat Youth Chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim has criticised Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi for his ‘nonsensical’ narrative that Selangor will be captured by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the upcoming state elections.

He expressed dismay at PN’s top leadership for bringing Sanusi to campaign in Selangor over the past week, who allegedly spreaded false narratives and made statements which he claims undermined the intelligence of local voters.

“Honestly, I am tired of following the narratives presented by our opponents in PN, especially since they have brought the Kedah MB to campaign here in Selangor, as if to insult the intellect of Selangor voters who know better,” said Adam to a crowd of 2,000 people at the launch of Keadilan’s Youth and Women’s wing election machinery for the state elections, held at Kampung Permatang, earlier tonight.

He commended the state administration led by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, acknowledging their efforts in implementing various people-oriented initiatives, schemes, and programmes.

According to Adam, these initiatives were specifically designed to uplift the people, particularly in response to the challenging economic and social circumstances resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Typically, the state government deals with legislation and operational issues, primarily involving local councils and other matters.

“However, Selangor has prioritised the growth of its state economy, surpassing even the expectations of its own citizens when it concerns the state government.

“In many aspects, the state government has adopted an approach similar to the Federal government, taking on the responsibilities and initiatives typically associated with national-level governance,” he said, adding the state administration often adopts a big-picture perspective.

Adam noted that Sanusi, in contrast, took a different approach by attributing every issue or challenge in Kedah to the Federal government, which began as soon as he assumed office (in May 2020).

Before concluding his speech, he reminded Sanusi that it is unnecessary to behave nonsensically (using the term loklaq in Kedahan dialect), urging the latter to abandon his ‘dream’ of PN capturing the state.

Earlier this week, PN held a ceramah in Tanjung Karang, featuring many top coalition leaders, including Sanusi.
