SHAH ALAM, June 17 — A total of 20,441 Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor (Tawas) members, born in 2016, have received education assistance so far.
Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor’s (Yawas) corporate communications assistant manager Sharizan Mohd Shariff said the RM50 school bag assistance aims to brighten the lives of children, who are now entering Standard One.
“Overall, Yawas has allocated RM1.28 million to support the SiManja Tawas Bantuan Masuk Sekolah programme.
“The distribution was carried out at the Yawas office, unlike the previous year, which involved the state constituency offices,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Sharizan added approximately 5,000 members who have yet to claim assistance can do so at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Section 7.
“There is still a surplus of unclaimed bags, so we are reopening the opportunity for parents to come and collect them, from May 22 to June 22,” he said.
On December 4 last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a total of 44,484 Tawas members throughout Selangor have received schooling assistance throughout the year.
He said the initiative is aimed at easing the burden of families in preparing for their children’s schooling.
