Smart parking app records 2.6 mln users, reduce use of paper — Exco

SHAH ALAM, June 8 — Some 2.6 million users have been recorded using the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) application since it was introduced in July 2018, says Ng Sze Han.

The state executive councillor for public transportation said the digital parking payment system is one of the state government’s initiatives to digitalise the parking and compound payment process under the 10 local authorities in the state.

“The SSP initiative can be said to be one of the most successful projects so far, as nearly all of the feedback we received had been good. The users have been satisfied with it.

“To date, we have recorded a total of 2.6 million transactions, which means there are 2.6 million SSP users, making it the number one or the largest parking app in Malaysia,” he said in an interview with RTM’s Selamat Pagi Malaysia, which was shared on Facebook.

Ng said the app had eased the procedure for parking payment in parking bays under the purview of the local authorities as people are no longer required to purchase different parking coupons from different local councils.

He said the move also has some environmental impact as it helps in reducing the use of paper by discarding the use of scratch-and-display parking coupons.

Developed by the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU), payments made through the SSP e-coupons are now easier, faster, and more secure.

Users would only be required to enter their vehicle registration number and the payment is made based on the parking duration.
