Successful MAF veteran entrepreneurs can serve as mentors – Adly

ARAU, June 30 – Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans who have become successful entrepreneurs can be mentors to new veterans who are interested in venturing into entrepreneurship as a career option.

Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari said the Department of MAF Veteran Affairs (JHEV) is working to enable veterans achieve empowerment by streamlining MAF veteran data through the Veteran Integrated Benefit System (Vibes) 2.0.

“We found that several MAF veterans are successful entrepreneurs and they can serve as mentors to others by motivating and sharing their experiences,” he told reporters here today.

Earlier, Adly together with JHEV director-general Major General Zambery Jefry Darus and Perlis veterans’ associations called on four MAF veterans through the Peduli Veteran Programme (PPV).

Adly said JHEV will be organising an entrepreneurship carnival and this will be used as a platform for MAF veteran entrepreneurs to share information with other veterans.

He said the PPV is one of the initiatives to focus on veterans and their families, especially to look into their welfare and needs, adding that it also allows the ministry to meet the veterans face-to-face and hear their grievances.

Adly said veterans who are interested in entrepreneurship in the agricultural and plantation sectors have been urged to come forward to get help from JHEV in terms of advisory services, matching grants, financing and other facilities.

“For smooth channeling of aid to veterans, they are advised to register with JHEV.

“Efforts to register as many veterans as possible are being carried out in close cooperation with the veterans’ associations nationwide,” he added.
