SHAH ALAM, July 24 — The opening of the Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS) preschool centre in rural areas of the state is currently collaborating with various parties and engaging in data collection.
Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) managing director Gan Pei Nei said the parties involved in the project include the local authorities, Federal agencies, the private sector, and non-governmental organisations.
“Research must be conducted first, including assessing the needs, so the construction of the AnIS centre will be beneficial to as many people as possible.
“We are also collecting data, in cooperation with the state’s Education Department and Health Department,” she said during the Pusat AnIS graduation ceremony at Perpustakaan Raja Tun Uda yesterday.
Gan added that Yawas has received over 1,000 applications for AnIS’ special assistance since it was opened in March.
“We receive more than 1,000 applications annually, but only some are eligible. Presently the applications are being reviewed, and some have already been approved. We hope the allocation for this assistance can be somewhat increased, as there are applications which meet our criterion but cannot be approved due to the full quota,” she said.
Earlier this year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Sharia said AnIS centres will be established in rural areas, including in Rawang, Kuala Selangor, and Kuala Langat.
He said this special initiative, with no fees required, aims to make Selangor a friendly and prosperous state for all segments of society to reside in.
