SHAH ALAM, July 8 – Madani Afiat, an initiative by the Health Ministry (MOF) aimed at disseminating basic disease prevention information and health advices, will be officially launched tomorrow.

Taking place at the Batu Caves community centre in Gombak, the event will be officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and is scheduled to run from 7am to 2pm.

The programme, which is the brainchild of Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa, provides an opportunity for MOH to engage with the community by promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Madani Afiat ultimately aims to increase public awareness of health care in preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

It will also provide exposure to trainee nurses from the MOH’s Training Institute on community programmes, as well as serve as a monitoring and data collection platform to formulate effective action plans.

Through the programme, the public will have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including dental health services and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) testing to detect cervical cancer.

Breast cancer screening will also be conducted via a mobile van by the Breast Cancer Welfare Association, in addition to the National Health Screening Initiative which provides free NCD screenings.

The event will also feature sales programmes by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), food trucks, and a mega community effort to raise awareness on dengue, along with exhibitions from various other agencies.
