SHAH ALAM, July 15 — The use of the Geographic Information System (GIS) technology by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) was recognised for its innovation by the Esri International User Conference 2023, in California, the United States, on July 12.
The council won the GIS Special Achievement Award, which is given to users worldwide in recognition of excellence in the use of GIS technology, with participation from over 100,000 individuals and organisations.
MBSA was represented by its Information Technology Division head Umi Aida Ab Malek, and Planning Department senior assistant director Nur Syadwan Yahsan, at the ceremony.
In a statement, it said the achievement involved the ICT Department, the Assessment and Property Management Department, the Finance Department, and the Licensing Department in the GIS Mapping Integration project with the E-Massa tax system, which displays tax collection and licensing monitoring through the i-MapSA portal.
The conference, which began on July 10, also included 300 technical presentations and training sessions.
