SHAH ALAM, July 14 — The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) is endeavouring to upgrade the infrastructure in areas under its jurisdiction, in preparation for achieving city status in November this year.
Its president Noraini Roslan said the rating status is currently being finalised before it is presented to the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) for approval.
“There are 132 days left until we reach expected city status on November 23, which is a significant challenge for the council’s staff, who must shoulder that responsibility.
“MPK is also actively improving the quality of services to the community, especially when it comes to solid waste collection and public cleanliness, as well as landscaping work,” she said during the MPK monthly assembly at Dewan Hamzah on Wednesday (July 12).
Noraini added that although Klang will soon gain city status, the council will continue to strengthen its position and location as a royal city.
“MPK needs to empower Klang as a royal heritage city and a competitive port on the world stage.
“We must emphasise sustainable development, which showcases a city of both history and heritage which that symbolizes the pride of its residents,” she said.
