PN being rude to Malay Rulers? It’s in their DNA – MB

By Danial Dzulkifly

SHAH ALAM, July 13 – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has a history of being ‘rude and impolite’ towards the royal institution, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

This comes after Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s recent remarks that were deemed to have insulted the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.

In a Facebook post today, he said it is in PN’s ‘DNA’ to resort to playing with racial, religious, and royal sentiments when confronted with facts and data that debunk their misinformation.

“This is not the first time that PAS and PN have been rude and impolite to the Malay Rulers. This is their DNA.

“When they are unable to argue based on facts and figures, they resort to insulting their opponents and being disrespectful towards the Malay Rulers,” Amirudin said.

During a campaign speech in Kuala Selangor last night, he similarly criticised Sanusi for allegedly being rude towards the Selangor Ruler.

The state Pakatan Harapan chairman also said Sanusi overstepped his boundaries as a politician by making impolite comments towards the Ruler, and engaging in personal attacks against other politicians when lacking credible arguments.

Meanwhile, in a statement today, Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat leadership council secretary Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad questioned Selangor PN chairman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s supposed reluctance in reprimanding Sanusi over his latest statement.

“Does Azmin, who was present alongside Sanusi that evening (when the remark was made), lack the courage to reprimand the individual who openly ridiculed the Selangor Ruler?

“It is regrettable that the former menteri besar himself appeared to endorse Sanusi’s audacious remarks.

“Could it be that Azmin was unable to do so (reprimand) because he now realises that it is not only the people of Gombak who reject him, but the entire state of Selangor will also no longer respect a traitor like him?

“Or is it because Azmin also demonstrated disrespect towards the Sultan of Selangor by preemptively announcing the date of the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly, and feels that disrespectful conduct towards the palace is acceptable?’’ he questioned.

Saifuddin added the people of Selangor are still awaiting an apology from Sanusi.

Recently, Sanusi was reported to have insulted the Selangor ruler when delivering a speech during a recent political ceramah.

The PAS leader allegedly questioned the validity of Amirudin’s appointment as Selangor Menteri Besar, by saying the Sultan of Kedah Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah would not have appointed someone as incapable as him (Amirudin) to lead the state.

“Such is the greatness of the Kedah Sultan, just look at its Menteri Besar. A Sultan as great as him would never appoint a lousy Menteri Besar like Amirudin,” he said.
