Salahuddin’s surgery for brain bleed goes well

ALOR SETAR, July 22 — Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub has undergone surgery for brain haemorrhage at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) here this morning.

Amanah vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said he was informed by Salahuddin’s bodyguard the Amanah deputy chief has been admitted to the intensive care unit for further monitoring.

“The minister had a successful surgery this morning. He was admitted to the operating room at about 3.30am from the emergency ward.

“I am not sure how long the surgery lasted but I was informed the surgery was successful by his bodyguard at about 8am,” he told Bernama when contacted.

“He was supposed to attend a talk with me (last night), but did not do so after feeling unwell and was then rushed to the emergency ward. He had a quite busy schedule yesterday, and maybe he was also tired,” said Mahfuz.

A specialist doctor earlier confirmed Salahuddin’s brain haemorrhage, said his press secretary Nur Syakirin Husnal.

In a statement this morning, she said Salahuddin was in surgery at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here.

“The Minister’s Office extends gratitude from Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub’s family for all the prayers, support and kind messages,” she said.

Salahuddin was rushed to hospital for treatment at 10.15pm yesterday after experiencing nausea and vomiting.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof sent his best wishes to Salahuddin.

“I pray his affairs will be eased and that (Salahuddin) will have a swift recovery through God’s blessings,” Fadillah said in a tweet.

Also praying for the Amanah deputy chief’s recovery was Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

“Along with the staff of the Works Ministry, we pray that YB Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub will recover soon and for all his dealings to be eased,” Nanta said in a Facebook post.
