Smallholders, rubber tappers reminded to apply for monsoon aid

By Najamuddin Mohd Nor

SHAH ALAM, July 7 — Smallholders and rubber tappers have been reminded to apply for the Bantuan Musim Tengkujuh (BMT) programme, which opened on June 15.

Kota Damansara incumbent state assemblyman Shatiri Mansor said BMT is aimed at alleviating the burden of the target groups, given the unpredictable weather conditions.

“The Unity Government always looks after the welfare of small-scale farmers and rubber tappers by monitoring them, to ensure no negligence occurs nationwide,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Previously, the government announced the application for the assistance would run for three months, ending on September 15.

Eligible recipients may visit any Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority office to do so, or apply online at https://budget.mof.gov.my/manfaat/faq/bmt-risda.html, or at https://pekebunkecil.risda.gov.my/permohonan-bmt.

Starting this year, BMT’s amount has been increased from RM600 to RM800, which will be distributed from November to February 2024.
