State job fair helps 20,000 people secure jobs in various sectors

SHAH ALAM, July 18 — Around 20,000 people have secured employment in various sectors through Selangor’s Career Carnival (Karnival Kerjaya) since 2019.

State executive councillor for human capital development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the jobs offered range from general positions to professional levels, both in private companies and government agencies.

“The figure recorded is since it was first organised in 2019 until the most recent job fair in June. Tens of thousands of job-seekers have participated in the programme.

“Each session of the job fair received support from various parties, including from prominent companies such as Proton, DRB Hicom, and Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd,” he told SelangorKini.

Khairuddin said the state government’s initiative has helped in keeping Selangor’s unemployment rate to be below 4 per cent, with the first quarter of this year at 2.6 per cent.

“Economic theory allows for an unemployment rate below 4 per cent to ensure continuous economic growth and job opportunities.

“Apart from the Career Carnival, Selangor also organises Selangor Career (Selangor Kerjaya) under Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, and Selangor JobCare,” he said.

Since last year, the state government has held the Mega Career Carnival involving over 100 companies, including those in the food and beverage, services, automotive, education, hospitality and tourism sectors.
