Former Utusan photographer receives donation from Kasih@Hawana fund

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 22 — Former Utusan Malaysia photographer Mohamad Sazali Che Din, who suffered a stroke, received a donation through the Kasih@Hawana Fund initiative today.

The 56-year-old, who is receiving treatment at the Rehabilitation Ward along Jalan Perak, expressed his gratitude for the aid as he did not expect there would be people to remember him, after he left the field in 2019.

“This is the second time I have suffered a stroke, which affected the right side of my body. After treatment, my leg has improved, so I can walk, though not very strongly. However, my right hand is still paralysed and needs treatment.

“The first stroke occurred in 2019 and the muscles in my face became completely paralysed. Alhamdulillah, after treatment, including physiotherapy, my condition improved and I could work,” he told Bernama.

The donation from the Communications and Digital Ministry (KKD), Pusat Pakaian Hari-Hari, Mydin and Aeon Big was presented by Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Penang bureau chief Kenny Teng Khoon Hock.

The Kasih@Hawana Fund, an initiative by KKD, is being implemented through Bernama as part of a continuous effort to help the media community who are facing difficulties and challenges.

“I thank Hawana for still remembering me. I hope this effort will continue so that more former media practitioners or veteran journalists can be tracked down and benefit from this initiative,” Mohamad Sazali said.

Besides the ex-photographer, former TV3 cameraman Roslee Ramali, who also suffered a stroke, received a donation under the initiative in Penang on August 5.
