Global leaders extend National Day greetings to Malaysia

SHAH ALAM, Aug 31 — Leaders of various nations have extended their well wishes to Malaysia as the country celebrates its 66th National Day today. 

United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed Zayed Al Nahyan sent his congratulations message to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on the occasion today.

Its Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum, and Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour Zayed Al Nahyan sent similar messages to His Majesty and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, according to Emirates news agency.

Meanwhile, the foreign ministers of India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka were among the South Asian officials extending greetings to Malaysia on the country’s National Day.

“We pray for happiness, continued peace, and prosperity for the friendly people of Malaysia. Selamat Menyambut Hari Kebangsaan Ke-66!” Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid said in a post on the social media site X.

Abdulla extended his greetings to Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Similarly, Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabry offered congratulations to their Malaysian counterpart on the occasion.

Jaishankar said he will work closely with Zambry to further strengthen the enhanced strategic partnership between the two countries.

Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, in a message, said: “On the occasion of National Day of Malaysia, we extend our heartiest felicitations to its government and people.”

The National Day 2023 celebration, which was held at the Dataran Putrajaya this morning, was attended by more than 100,00 people from all walks of lives.

Themed ‘Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan’, this year’s National Day celebration involved 17,262 participants,  67 contingents, 36 brass bands, 534 land and air assets, and 100 service animals.
