Matrade, PKNS collaboration likely to increase the number of local exporters

SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 — The collaboration between the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) through the organisation of Selangor Export Day 2023 is expected to produce quality entrepreneurs and further increase the number of local exporters, especially in Selangor.

Matrade chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said the two-day programme starting today is also seen as the best platform to develop more exporting entrepreneurs who can complement the national economic cycle.

“This collaboration is quite important because we want to produce more exporters in the country, especially in Selangor.

“When our entrepreneurs are successful on the world stage, it can help the country’s financial resources as they will pay taxes and the proceeds will go back to the people,” he said.

Mohd Mustafa was speaking at a press conference in conjunction with Selangor Export Day 2023 at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, earlier today.

He added the programme will continue in Pahang, Terengganu, Johor, and Melaka in September and October.

Mohd Mustafa noted that Selangor is in a strategic location and various types of investors can be brought to the state.

“That is the role of Matrade, which will help our entrepreneurs to be part of the supply chain for their products to these investors.

“We expect the increase in exports can start here, with the provision of products that investors need and at the same time they can learn to export their products after this,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKNS CEO Datuk Mahmud Abbas said PKNS provides various opportunities for entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and equip themselves with comprehensive entrepreneurial knowledge through various programmes and available modules.

“I appreciate this collaboration with Matrade, and I am sure it can encourage and guide entrepreneurs in this state to export their products,” he said.

Through the programme, participants will be exposed to export solutions such as the eTrade program, the Matrade Digital Trading Platform, MyExport, and Matrade Digital Learning, to help companies explore international markets and identify platforms for e-commerce businesses.
